Yolanda Williams, interior designer for Gorman’s, has a process that she encourages her clients to follow when creating a space.
“Take your time,” she said.
Getting the room’s bigger pieces into position first allows them to get their bearings and then to decide what should come next. “Proceed from there,” she said.
Yolanda has been at Gorman’s for more than a decade and has a background in sales. “I sold hot tubs in California, but when I came back to Michigan, there wasn’t a huge market for hot tubs,” she said, with a laugh. That’s when she began selling furniture, which put her on the path to land at Gorman’s.
Yolanda finds beauty in every design style, with her own taste running eclectic. This is a benefit to helping clients. “It’s helpful to have that knowledge for clients,” she said.
She keeps up with the trends by visiting design shows and reading design magazines.
