Mark Meyer

Interior Designer | Novi Store Sales Manager

Function is the most important feature in design, Mark Meyers believes. “I can make anything pretty,” he said, “but it has to function properly and be practical and durable.”

Mark joined the Gorman’s team in 2020 and is a store manager and interior designer there, with more than 35 years of industry experience. After graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in interior design, he began his career at Hudson’s department store, working on the sales floor before transitioning to the design studio. His resume includes experience at Ethan Allen and Newton Furniture, as well contract design work.

Mark’s design process is through problem solving, connecting with the customer to understand their wants and needs, then creating a plan to accomplish that desired outcome. He encourages clients to think beyond their comfort level, pushing them to explore something “edgy or daring” to elevate the space design.

Mark keeps up with trends by reading “Architectural Digest” and “Traditional Home,” as well some magazines featuring clothing fashions, tracking how the clothing industry influences interior design, like when a black-houndstooth pattern in jackets in years past began being seen in sofa fabrics. His own personal style leans traditional.
