For Mark Anthony, good design is about more than aesthetics – it’s about building lasting connections between people and the spaces in which they call home.
Mark’s passion for interiors was inspired early on by his mother’s flair for design. “She didn’t know it, but I was watching her every time she chose tile or wallpaper or rearranged furniture,” he said. That early exposure, combined with years in retail leadership at home furnishings stores in metro Detroit, shaped his thoughtful and customer-first approach. “I’ve always believed in treating people with respect,” he said. “That’s what builds trust, and trust builds great spaces.”
Based in Gorman’s Novi showroom, Mark has been a full-time interior designer for nearly a decade. His style leans bold and intentional. “I love a design that’s got a little drama,” he said, especially when creating personal spaces like man caves or music rooms. But he’s equally adept at softer, more classic styles, especially when working with couples to strike a balance between two tastes. “Ultimately, it’s about the client. You ask questions. You listen. And then you build something meaningful around their life.”
Known for his ability to “romance a dining room,” Mark designs with longevity in mind. “A dining table isn’t just furniture. It’s where memories are made – meals, arguments, celebrations. That piece becomes part of your family’s story.”
When he’s not designing, Mark is composing music, often jazz or progressive rock, and is a licensed amateur radio operator. “Creativity crosses boundaries,” he said. “What I learn in one area helps fuel my perspective in another.”
