Don Paul considers himself a tour guide in his role as an interior designer, helping clients navigate their selections for a space that is perfect for them, even if, originally, they hadn’t been clear in their vision.
“We find a good place at the end where everyone is happy,” he says.
Don’s interest in interior design began early, when as young as 12, he entertained himself by drawing rooms and buildings from copies of pictures or creating his own designs. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids and has worked in the retail furniture industry ever since, serving 20 years on the Gorman’s team.
A personal collector of 18th and 19th century antiques, Don specializes in traditional and classic designs but over his career has conceptualized and executed a wide variety of projects reflecting authentic period, transitional and modern styles, with a focus on quality and craftsmanship, and mixing colors, textiles and textures.
For Don, no two customers are exactly alike – and that’s what makes the job fun.
